Downpatrick Primary School
The school was opened in 1975 and is situated at the upper end of Mount Crescent in the historic quarter of Downpatrick, near the Cathedral, Down Museum and St Patrick’s Heritage Centre overlooking the Quoile River and the Dromara Hills.
The majority of the children come from Downpatrick, but the school also serves outlying districts and traditionally accepts children from a wide area and from all backgrounds. The Board of Governors is committed to cater for areas where there is no Controlled school provision such as Ardglass and Strangford.
The accommodation comprises 13 classrooms, three small group rooms, a library, a Sensory Room, an After School Care Club room and 'The Hub' - our ICT suite. This is complemented by a multi-purpose hall, meals kitchen and ancillary block.
The grounds are spacious with extensive grass and tarmac areas. A spacious playground was added in 2016.
A new Key Stage 1 block was added in 2015 as part of a school estate improvement programme. The final phase of this work was completed by December 2016.
Pupil Numbers: 213, AGE RANGE - 4-11
